BASE METAL CATALYST FOR SMALL-SIZE MOTORS

A catalyst for purifying the stream of combustion gas from a small-size motor is made of a base metal the oxide of which has a catalytic activity upon a gaseous component of the stream of combustion gas. The base metal is shaped into a metal sheet and forms a body with ducts through which the stream of combustion gas can flow. Also disclosed is a process for producing a catalyst with a honeycomb-like geometry for purifying a stream of combustion gas from a small-size motor. The catalyst is made of a metal foil (2) which is tempered until an oxide layer (7) is formed from the metal of the foil (2) itself, which is then used as catalyst. This catalyst is preferably used in a hand-held appliance equipped with a small-size motor.
