A monoblock battery has integral internal walls (7) which separate bundles of electrochemical units (9). At the point where the internal walls meet the battery top (6) they divide into two half walls (22) to form a housing (20) for a temperature sensor (21) using a connecting hole (23). The temperature sensor may be prolonged by a thin, possibly flat conductor to assist heat conduction.
