An amplifier comprising an input terminal (1) for receiving an input signal; an output terminal (2) for supplying an output signal; a first (3) and a second supply terminal (4) for receiving a supply voltage; an output transistor with a first main electrode coupled to the first supply terminal (3), a second main electrode coupled to the output terminal (2), and a control electrode; and a control circuit (CT) which together with the output transistor (T0) forms a switched current mirror. The switched current mirror ensures that the output current supplied by the output transistor (T0) to a load (ZL) is accurately defined when the output signal is in the transition region from logically "low" to logically "high", or vice versa. In a static condition of the output signal, the output current supplied by the output transistor (T0) can be considerably greater. |
