<p>A metal working water or composition which has excellent cooling capability and lubricity and does not adversely affect the environment. Water containing at least one member selected from among a fluoride ion, a hydrogencarbonate ion and silicon, and a sodium ion and having a pH regulated to 6.0 to 10 is used as such as a metal working water. Alternatively, an additive, such as a rust preventive, is incorporated into the metal working water to prepare a composition which is then used as an alternative to a cutting oil.</p> |
