An anti-insect agent based on an infective agent capable of infecting insect. The anti-insect agent is an organism such as a baculovirus which has a cloned immunoprotective component one such component is the protein termed Crp32 of the parasitoid wasp Cortesia rubecula. The immunoprotective component confers protection against insect haemocytes to the anti-insect agent. It is preferred that the baculovirus has multiple virions per envelope and that the gene encoding Crp32 is under controls permitting early expression such as operate to permit early expression of gp64.
