The invention provides a photographic element comprising a light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a cyan dye-forming coupler of formula (I), a phenolic solvent of formula (II) and a bisphenol derivative compound of formula (III): wherein: R1 represents an alkyl or aryl group; R2 represents an alkyl or aryl group; and Z represents hydrogen or a group capable of being split off by oxidized color developer; wherein: each R independently represents a substituent group, and q represents an integer from 1 to 3; and the total of the carbon atoms contained in all of the q R groups is at least 8 and not more than 15 carbon atoms; wherein: R3 represents an alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, aryloxy, or substituted amino group; L is a linking group having one atom between the phenyl rings; each R5 independently represents an alkyl group; and each R6 independently represents H or an alkyl group.
