Ignition system for IC engine

An IC engine without a starter motor has an ignition control which feeds a rich fuel/air mixture into a cylinder which is stopped at TDC when the engine is switched off. This enables the engine to be restarted simply by applying a high energy discharge to the spark plug of the respective cylinder. The power for the spark discharge is generated by a thysistor circuit which drives the primary of the individual ignition coil of the cylinder, with a capacitor to provide sufficient energy.
