A method of and an arrangement for integrated telecommunication via a Cable TeleVision (CaTV) network (3-14) in a first or downstream direction from a head-end section (2) to a subscriber section (20) and in a second or upstream direction from the subscriber section (20) to the first or head-end section (2). A first transmission protocol and equipment (18, 19, 23) serve downstream and upstream communication at telephony and telephony based data rates. A second transmission protocol and equipment (28) serve at least downstream communication at high data rates. The first transmission protocol and equipment (18, 19, 23) and third equipment (39, 40) serve at least upstream communication in connection with the downstream communication served by the second transmission protocol and equipment (18). In a preferred embodiment, the first transmission protocol is arranged to operate in accordance with the Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) standard.
