Rail connected maintenance vehicle taking measurements with movement relative to track

The vehicle carries out measurements concerning the track and rail geometry. A unit determines the position of a reference point at the maintenance vehicle. A first detection unit measures characteristic data relative to the geometry of tracks. A second detector unit measures characteristic data relative to the rails. The lengthwise height is measured across a linear measurement value transmitter (103a-c), at telescopic measurement axles (102a-c). Two of the height measurements (102a,102c) provide the base measurements. A processing system is provided in which the determined position of the reference point and the measured characteristic data are electronically processed.
