Static compensator for reactive power compensation in electrical power supply network

The static compensator is connected to a magnetic foot of a step-down transformer (5) between network voltage planes. The compensator comprises a thyristor regulator (6) connected to a stray winding (5a). The stray winding may be arranged axially on a laminated core of the step-down transformer adjacent to a primary and/or secondary winding.
