The device for securing a vehicle against unauthorised use, includes a receiving aerial (1) mounted on the vehicle for receiving signals transmitted from a central control unit, and a control device (2) fitted in the vehicle, which at least temporarily stores vehicle usage entitlement information supplied from the central control unit. A separate identification code is assigned to at least some of the vehicle keys (5) provided for the vehicle, the code differing from the identification codes of the other vehicle keys (5). A control device (2) interrogates the identification code of the respective vehicle key (5) during use, and detects the stored usage authorisation information for the relevant vehicle key and only triggers the function instructed by the key with the user authorisation present.
