A waveguide element comprises a conductive foil (1) adhesively bonded to one face of a polyethylene terephthalate foil (3), the other face being covered with a dielectric foil (4) which is covered, on its free face, with a conductive foil (5). A waveguide element comprises (a) a preshrunk, low dielectric constant, electrical high quality foil (3), preferably of polyethylene terephthalate, which has high surface quality and minimal thickness; (b) a conductive foil (1), preferably a bright copper foil, bonded preferably on one side of the polyethylene terephthalate foil (3) by a minimal thickness, electrical high quality adhesive layer (2); (c) an uncoated dielectric foil (4), preferably of low dielectric constant polyethylene or polystyrene foam, on the uncoated face of the polyethylene terephthalate foil (3); and (d) a conductive foil (5), preferably of copper, aluminum or brass, on the free face of the dielectric foil (4), the conductive foil (5) having a high surface quality on one side for imparting high surface quality to the dielectric foil (4).
