The upholstered chair has headrests (6) stored in the backrest (2). Each headrest is moved with the aid of guide mechanisms e.g. levers, slide bearings or roller bearings. The headrest can be moved between a first storage position concealed inside the support frame of the chair or sofa, to one side of and at the same height as the backrest, to a second head support position above the backrest.
