A brake (19) can be moved into its actuated position by an articulated lever joint, which is displaced beyond top dead center by the support pressure of the armrest (2). Preferably the actuating lever (9) for the brake is coupled below the seat surface (7) and is moved downwards beyond its coupling position to actuate the brake.
