The invention concerns a novel electrically rechargeable lead-air generator wherein the lead electrodes (C) are associated, for charging, with auxiliary positive electrodes (D) where oxygen is generated, whereas for discharging, they are associated with cathodes (A and A') where oxygen is reduced. The invention is characterised in that the oxygen cathodes are in contact with a solid or gelled electrolyte while the lead electrodes and the auxiliary electrodes are immersed in a liquid electrolyte (H2SO4). The lead-air generator can be produced in two different embodiments characterised in that their lifetime is close to 15 years: an entirely sealed version resulting in a generator not requiring any maintenance; a not entirely sealed version requiring reduced maintenance (periodical addition of water). Said generator is particularly adapted for storing electricity generated by photovoltaic cells.
|
