HOT BEVERAGE LID WITH THERMAL GUARD

A hot beverage lid having a protective plastic guard for protecting a consumer's fingers from heat emanating from the side of a cup. A first embodiment comprises downward extending guards covering portions of the circumference of the cup. A second embodiment comprises a hollow cylindrical protective guard for encircling an upper portion of the cup with the guard being connected to a lid via a hinge. A third embodiment comprises a ring having downward extending guards covering portions of the circumference of the cup with the ring being connected to a lid via a hinge. A fourth embodiment comprises a lid having protective tabs extending outward from the peripheral on a cup which are folded downward to be adjacent to the side of the cup. A fifth embodiment comprises a lid having a cylindrical guard extending downward from the bottom periphery of the lid.
