Insufficiently treated products are recycled to a balance tank by activation of a return-stroke valve (12). The pressure difference between the upstream and downstream sides (15,14) of the tank after the return stroke, is maintained by enclosing the treated products in a restricted conduit space between the return stroke valve and shut-off valve (20).
