The inventive catalyst consists of a highly porous, ion-exchanged crystalline aluminium silicate to which a quantity of 0.02 to 0.50 wt % (in relation to the total catalyst weight without the carrier material) of a metal from group VIII of the periodic table is applied in a finely-dispersed form, and which has the following chemical composition: REaMbNac((Al1Six)O2(1+x)).y H2O, RE being an element other than Cer chosen from the group of lanthanum and lanthanides and M being an alkaline earth metal. a represents a number from 0.10 to 0.30, b represents a number from 0.05 to 0.25, c represents a number from 0.01 to 0.05, x represents a number from 1.0 to 3.0, and y represents a number from 3.0 to 5.0. The invention also relates to a method for producing the inventive catalyst.
