PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize stable operation of a PDP display system by detecting an abnormality at the light emission of a panel and specifying an abnormal position. SOLUTION: A test signal generation circuit 41 outputs a test signal 72 of which video signal level is reduced as compared with that of a video signal 71, a row electrode current/voltage conversion circuit 51 converts a row electrode current 81 on a PDP panel into row electrode conversion voltage 82, comparators 52, 53 respectively compare the converted voltage 82 with row electrode block voltage 83 and row electrode line voltage 84 to be reference voltage levels, and a row electrode protection circuit 54 switches a driving waveform to be inputted to a timing control circuit 43 based on compared results, so that light can be emitted without expanding an abnormal position on the PDP panel and the abnormal position on the PDP panel, can easily be specified. As to column electrodes also, an abnormal position on the PDP panel can be specified by the similar constitution. |
