PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a join of texture images inconspicuous even when an image is repeated or reduced at the time of texture mapping by making an image area to be cut rectangular so that the long side is shorter than the specific number of pixels after the texture mapping. SOLUTION: When there is a repetitive pattern, a repeat part of an image of proper size is copied from the source image to a memory. A tiled image is generated by repeating the image on the memory and displayed on a display screen. When joins of the source image at the time of the tiling are conspicuous, a rectangular image area (called a unit image) including an integral number of repetitive patterns is copied from the source image to the memory. Here, the unit image is made rectangular so that the long side is shorter than the number of pixels 1/10 as large as the whole output image after the texture mapping. Consequently, when the unit image is tiled repeatedly, the distortion, deviation in direction, and color irregularity of the source image can not be recognized with the human eye and become inconspicuous. |
