PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double-layer capacitor and an electrode having uniform quality by improving the capacitance density per unit volume at a low current density by enabling promotion of sintering and dense packing. SOLUTION: An electrode 2 for an electric double-layer capacitor made of PVDC(polyvinylidene chloride) resin carbide or vinylidene chloride based polymer carbide has a density of 1.00 to 1.35 g/cc. Preferably, 0.5 to 10.0 wt.% phenol resin carbide is added to the electrode 2, and the PVDC resin carbide is set to a particle diameter of equal to or less than 22 μm.
