<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an interpolation pixel with high quality by identifying presence of an image edge component based on relation of quantity between primary reference pixels in existence at upper/lower/left/right sides of a noted pixel and secondary reference pixels in existence around the primary reference pixels, generating an interpolation pixel based on the reference pixels when the edge component is detected and deciding a weight coefficient with respect to the upper/lower reference pixels differently from the left/right reference pixels. SOLUTION: In the case of generating an interpolation pixel at a noted position at which a pixel of a 1st color component is not in existence, the relation of quantity between primary reference pixels of the 1st color component in existence at adjacent positions of upper/lower or left/right sides of a noted pixel and secondary reference pixels of the 1st color component in existence around the primary reference pixels is checked. The presence/absence of an image edge component is identified and in the case that the image edge component is detected, the interpolation pixel is generated based on the reference pixels of the 1st color component in existence at positions adjacent to the upper/lower or left/right sides of the noted pixel. A weight coefficient with respect to the upper/lower sides of the noted pixel is decided differently from that with respect to the left/right sides of the noted pixel.</p> |
