PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power monitoring circuit for CPU that has an incorporated electric rating code preset at a plant. SOLUTION: The power monitoring circuit for monitoring power supplied to a central processing unit(CPU) 10 can adjust the power level to be appropriate corresponding to a power rating of the CPU 10, depending upon a situation. The CPU 10 equipped with the power monitoring circuit must be the type that includes an incorporated power rating code which is preset at a plant and indicates a power tolerance which the CPU 10 can resist. The power monitoring circuit includes a decoding means 70 that can decode the power rating code to a lower limit reference value and an upper limit reference value respectively for indicating the lower limit and the upper one of the power tolerance the CPU 10 can resist. Furthermore, the power monitoring circuit includes a means 30 for comparing size of power supplied to the CPU 10 with the upper limit reference value and the lower limit value in order to judge whether or not the power is within the power tolerance that the CPU 10 can resist.
