PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop reading an original with it in its inclined state and to eliminate the possibility that the original is damaged by having a switch detecting means to start original carrying after placing the original and starting the original carrying after setting the original correctly. SOLUTION: When it detects that an original is inserted by the inclination of an original detection lever 8, an output of the original detection sensor 9 changes. The output change is transmitted to a CPU, original carriage rollers 6 and 6' are driven to start original carrying and a read operation is performed. By detecting a front edge of the original, the read operation is started by receiving a read start command from a host computer after sending the status of original detection to the host computer. It is decided as an end edge of the original at the time of detecting that the original detection sensor 9 is turned off, and after that, the original is ejected after reading the prescribed number of lines to finish the reading operation. |
