PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately find medium length by multiplying the conveyance speed of a medium found from the measured time of a 1st timer by the measured time of a 2nd timer. SOLUTION: A computing element 7 finds ((length L of conveyance path) ÷(measured time of 1st timer 5)) × (measured time of 2nd timer 6). Namely, the conveyance speed V of the medium 1 obtained at the stable rotating speed of a motor 8 can be found from the said calculated value of (L) ÷ (measured time of the timer 5). The length of the medium can accurately be found by multiplying this conveyance speed V by the measured time obtained by the 2nd timer 6 as the conveyance time T of the medium 11. Consequently, when an automatic vending machine, etc., is equipped with this medium length measuring instrument, a medium which is not allowed to be used on this machine can be detected nearby its throw-in opening 10 and such a medium is prevented from being taken deep in the machine. |
