The strain is used in the pharmaceutical industry for thepreparation of hypocholesterolimic product of the group of Alactones used in medicine as an agent for the adjustment of thecholesterin content in blood. Strain Aspergillus terreus isproduced by mutagenous treatment of the initial Aspergillusterreus, NBIMCC No. 3319, by treatment with UV light, selection ofspecific variant of the strain after resowing, natural selectionand subsequent treatment withN-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanadine. Mutant having considerablyincreased productive potentials of the desiredhypocholesterollimic product is produced.
