The invention refers to a device for determining the volume of solid, irregular shape bodies, such as crystals, coins, precious stones, small pieces of jewellery; the invention can be used in archaeology, numismatics, geology etc. The device includes a gauged container (10) two thirds of whose volume is filled with a working liquid (11) in which the object to be measured (12) is immersed, and a micrometric mechanism (C) on whose micrometric screw (9) a palpating needle (8) is fitted so that it can reach the surface of the working liquid (11), forming a convex meniscus with it, which is rendered visible by a source of light (4) and a magnifying glass (14).
