Hip joint prosthesis and fitting tool

The prosthesis, comprising a femoral implant with a shank (1) and a cone (4) for a femoral head, is fitted with the aid of a clamp tool (2) with jaws (10, 11) recessed to form a socket (12) for the cone when closed. One of the jaws also has a projecting lug (16) which fits into a cavity in a collar (6) at the upper end of the implant. The lug can be adjusted to suit implants of different sizes.
