PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal projector having a compact structure and of which assembly and adjustment are facilitated. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal projector is at least equipped with a light source device 6, a liquid crystal display element 7, a projection mirror 2 projecting display light modulated by a picture formed on the display element 7 to an external screen and a housing 1 in which the device 6, the display element 7 and an illumination optical system are housed. An aperture 3 for emitting the display light from the display element 7 to the mirror 2 is formed between the display element 7 in the housing 1 and the mirror 2, and one end of the mirror 2 is attached so that the mirror 2 can be tilted to/raised from the outside wall of the housing 1, and the mirror 2 constitutes a projection optical system in a state where it is raised and has the function of a cover which covers over the aperture 3 in a state where it is tilted. |
