PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the abnormal discharge and crosstalk between adjacent discharge elements to improve the display quality, and to prevent the damage of a driver IC by providing a conductive layer between the surface of the dielectric layer of a first substrate and the surface of the phosphor layer of a second substrate or between the dielectric layer of the second substrate and the phosphor layer. SOLUTION: A first panel 10 has maintenance electrodes 1a, 1b, 2a and 2b between a front glass base 5 and a front dielectric 4, and conductive materials 9a-9f are applied to the discharge area-side surface of the front dielectric 4. A second panel 20 has selecting electrodes 3a, 3b and 3c between a back glass substrate 8 and a back dielectric 7, and conductive materials 9g-9l are applied to the discharge area-side surface of phosphors 6a, 6b, and 6c. The conductive materials 9a-9f and 9g-9l absorb charged particles such as floating electrons to prevent them from being drifted to adjacent discharge elements, and the charged particles necessary for maintenance discharge are stored on the surface of the front dielectric 4. |
