PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium in which service life evaluation suitable for the medium is automatically conducted by loading the medium on an optical recording medium driving device. SOLUTION: In a recording region 2 of an optical recording medium 1, a user region 3 which records a user information, a service life detecting region 4 which evaluates an archival service life, a service life detection information direct-read-after-write region 5 which evaluates a shelf service life, a service life history recording region 6 which evaluates the service life of a recording layer from the degradation speed of recording and reproducing characteristics, and a program recording region 7 in which a service life evaluation program is recorded are formed. In the region 7, a program is recorded to measure any one of the characteristics including the recording characteristic of the medium, the reproducing characteristic, the tracking characteristic and the focusing characteristic of the optical head provided on the driving device for the medium and to evaluate the service life of the medium. |
