PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress uneven current distribution caused by rapid charge as small as possible by sticking silver or a silver-containing film at least on a past of nickel hydroxide powder surface which is an active material. SOLUTION: Spherical or semispherical nickel hydroxide is used with grain sizes preferably 1-200 μm. A film composed of silver or a compound consisting of silver and copper, etc., is preferably a porous thin film and is formed at least on a part of nickel hydroxide powder surface. The mean thickness of the silver coating film is preferably 1 μm or less. Covering the surface of nickel hydroxide with silver or the silver-containing thin film reduces the resistance of the active material as low as possible and uniformalize the current distribution. This constitution prevents partial generation of a part easy or hard to cause electrode reaction, suppresses peeling and falling of filler from a point concentrating the current and provides an electrode having a high capacity. |
