<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which dose not process a packet transmitted/ received at an ATM cell whenever the packet is received by giving the index of a path reference table which is previously stored in a descriptor, queuing the descriptor for transmission and reception and executing en-queuing at the end of the packet waiting for a transmission processing without the aid of CPU. SOLUTION: The pertinent area of a descriptor management table 500 is referred to and the payload of a received cell is copied in the head address of the pertinent packet of a packet memory 700 which the descriptor shows from a position to which the byte count value of the packet written at present is added. Written payload length is added to the byte count of the descriptor. For en-queuing the descriptor to the queue waiting for transmission, a descriptor end pointer 930 waiting for transmission is referred to and the address value of the address area of the descriptor which the pointer points is rewritten.</p> |
