<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the reader writer for an ICC(integrated circuit contact) card which has simple structure for alignment and can catch the card automatically and easily. SOLUTION: A card alignment mechanism is equipped with arms 12 and 14 which are biased by a spring toward each other around a pivot point 16. The arm 12 is mounted with a card read head 18 and the arm 14 is mounted with a card stop lip 20. A solenoid rotates the arms around the pivot point and the card stop lip comes into contact with the card 30; when the card read head is positioned correctly for the card, the arm 12 continues to rotate until the spring is completely compressed. When this mechanism is built in an ATM (automatic teller machine), the arms 12 and 14 are retracted to their rest positions and the card 30 is able to move to a card catch pin beyond the mechanism without being restricted.</p> |
