PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce attractive force of a magnetic head for a magnetic disk by constituting an air bearing surface with a surface of a protection film and a slider pedestal surface, partially sticking the protection film to the slider pedestal surface and covering at least an electromagnetic conversion end part of an electromagnetic conversion element. SOLUTION: A writing electromagnetic conversion element 2 consisting of an inductive type electromagnetic conversion element and a reading electromagnetic conversion element 3 consisting of an MR (electromagnetic conversion) element are arranged on air outflow end TR sides of rails 11, 12. The air bearing surfaces 13, 14 constituting the slider 1 are formed by the protection films 17, 18 consisting of carbon nitride, etc., and the slider pedestal surfaces 15, 16. The protection films 17, 18 are provided with film thickness of 0.01-0.05μm, and are arranged so as to linearly prolong through central parts of the widths of the rails 11, 12 from an air inflow end LE to the air outflow end TR, and to cover the ends of the pole parts, etc., of the electromagnetic conversion elements 2, 3. The pole parts of the electromagnetic conversion elements 2, 3 aren't in contact directly with the surface of the magnetic disk.
