PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a WDM transmitter for an optical network that uses a light emitting device which is looped back and sliced in terms of spectrum. SOLUTION: The multiplexer is made up of a broad spectrum optical source 18 having an optical source signal spectrum band width, a channel specification device 22 to which the broad spectrum optical source connects, and the channel specification device 22 has a wavelength decomposition means that decomposes the optical source signal into a plurality of individual wavelength bands and delivers the individual wavelength bands between an input port and an output port in response to a routing function to specify a series of wavelength channels and has an optical coupling means that coupled the output port and the input port according to the routing function and multiplexes a series of individually addresses wavelength channels into an optical signal.
