Process to pasteurise, sterilise and heat liquids with steam comprises injecting the steam into the surrounding liquid through a variable number of fine radial jets towards the centre of the liquid flow. Also claimed is an apparatus for the process comprising a liquid inlet tube (1), a steam inlet (9) and an enclosed housing (4) incorporating part of the tube (1). This part of the tube passes through a tube (6) with a number of drill holes (7). A regulator unit fits between the tube and the housing, all three being on the same axis. The steam inlet is from the housing into the vicinity of the drill holes. |
