The invention relates to a new recombinant protein calledantisecretory factor (rAF), and homologues and its peptidefragments. The protein and the homologues and its peptidefragments are useful for the normalization of the pathologicaltransport of liquids and/or inflammatory reactions in mammals,including humans. The invention also relates to antibodies againstAF or the homologues, or its fragments, to nucleinic acidsencoding the protein or the homologues, or fragments, as well asto vectors and hosts including the nucleinic acids.
