<p>An optical recording medium drive capable of generating a tracking error signal necessary for accurate track count. Specifically an optical recording medium drive which performs recording and/or reproduction on and/or from an optical recording medium by projecting light onto the tracks thereof, wherein the recording medium has a plurality of tracks each constituted of land portions and groove portions formed between the land portions and capable of recording information thereon. The drive is provided with a sensor (115) for detecting the position of the light, peak hold circuits (311, 311a) for peak-holding the position detection signal from the sensor (115) and outputting the same, bottom hold circuits (312, 312a) for bottom-holding the position detection signal and outputting the same, and a switching circuit (316) for selecting one of signals generated based on the output signals of the peak hold circuits (311, 311a) and the bottom hold circuits (312, 312a) and outputting the selected signal.</p> |
