Bending angle detector for workpieces such as metal plate

The detector includes a light projector (7), a receiver (8) and a detector. An extraction device extracts representative pixels of a linearly projected image produced on the surface of the workpiece (W), based on the brightness values of the pixels. A calculator determines a representative straight line, and a bend angle calculator determines the bending angle of the workpiece based on the straight line.
