After the decontamination process, the area in question is exposed to a light and inspected for evidence of residual fluorescent dye. The liquid fluorescent dye is a mineral oil or a silicon synthetic oil applied as an aerosol spray, by wiping or pouring. The light may be a laser beam, an uninterrupted light source with optical filters or ultraviolet light. The fluorescent emissions may be detected by visual observation or opto-electronic agents.
