A profiled aluminum (alloy) sheet or strip has alternating hardness regions over its cross-section. Independent claims are also included for: (i) profiled aluminum (alloy) sheet or strip production by feeding starting material from a coil to a continuous roll forming unit in which trapezoidal or rectangular grooves are formed in the strip center and then the edge regions without strip thickness alteration, sinusoidal corrugations of maximum 2 mm amplitude are roll formed in the non-deformed regions between the grooves and then each corrugation is formed to an acute angled groove by embossing with at least 50% wall thickness reduction; and (ii) equipment for carrying out the above process.
