A mandrel with short resilient section expands radially when compressed axially. Liner and outer container are fitted over it, their openings over the resilient section. Expansion widens the liner uniformly, bringing it to rest, pressing against the outer container at the common outlet. Thus expanded and sealed together, the assembly is submitted to the edge-turning operation. An Independent claim is included for equipment to carry out the process. Preferred features: First the inner liner (2) is pushed over a resilient mandrel (13). The mandrel is sufficiently enlarged to hold the liner against relative rotation. During absolute rotation, adhesive is coated around the lining, its edge zone then being pushed on, into the insertion position. The resilient body (5) is compressed further, to press the liner edge against the inner edge of the outer container (1) opening. In a preliminary operation, the opening edge of the outer container is conically-widened. The outer container and/or the inner liner is/are preheated. Compression of the resilient section to widen the edge zone of the lining, is effected uniformly.
