A matter generator effects collision and mutual annihilation of two laser beams in a vacuum chamber (3) in the form of an electron tube, the rate of matter generation being measured and the two laser beams being aligned using four partially transparent mirrors (10,11,14,15), two mirrors (16,17), a polarization discriminator (12), a controlled optical polarizer (9), a phase discriminator (18) and a controlled optical phase shifter (13).
