A conveying apparatus for a longwall mining machine having a cutting head includes a driven endless conveying member 40 fabricated from a plurality of pivotally interconnected low profile links 60, where at least some of the links have guide tabs 66 that cooperate with guide channels 88 formed in a conveyor frame 20 that supports the driven endless conveying member therein and the cutting drum 12 thereon. Each link 60 has at least one sprocket engagement portion for engaging a driven sprocket. Each link 60 has two attachment tabs 46 on one side 45 thereof and another attachment tab 48 on the other side 47 thereof. The tabs 48 of one link are received between the two tabs 46 of another link and are connected together via a pin passing through bores 49 and 51 in the tabs. The top surface of the links thus form an articulated transport plane for the conveyance of material falling from the cutting drum. |
