A conveyer belt (2) advances in steps to transport drinking containers (4) through a treatment chamber (5). The chamber has no doors fixed to the chamber. The conveyer belt transports the containers at regular intervals and bears upright doors (7) fixed to the belt which shut the chamber while the respective container is within the chamber.
