The present invention is directed to a laundry detergent bar composition comprising from about 0.5 % to about 60 % anionic surfactant; from about 0.1 % to about 20 % peroxygen bleach; at least about 16 % phosphate builder, selected from the group consisting of phosphates, pyrophosphates, orthophosphates, tripolyphosphates, higher polyphosphates, and mixtures thereof; and wherein the total moisture content in the final bar composition is from about 0.1 % to about 6 %, and wherein the ratio of the phosphate builder to the total moisture content is from about 4:1 to about 12:1.
