Peelable label (2) includes label (4) adhered to label (20). Label (4) includes substrate (6) having indicia (12) on side (8) and release layer (14) on side (10). Label (20) includes substrate (22) having indicia (24) on side (26) and pressure sensitive adhesive layer (18) on indicia (24). Label (2) is made by forming indicia (12) and layer (14) on substrate (6), forming indicia (24) and layer (18) on substrate (22), and laminating substrates (6 and 22) together with layers (14 and 18) therebetween. In the alternative, indicia (24) is formed on the surface of layer (14) such that during lamination, indicia (24) is between layers (14 and 18) where indicia (24) can be transferred to layer (18) when substrate (6) is removed. In both embodiments, side (28) of substrate (22) is adhered to a surface of article (36).
