A sprung metal element (2) applies a force to or relieves a force from an automotive brakes metal component which is movable with respect to a substructure and subject to vibration in use. At the interface contact surfaces, the sprung metal element has noise-dampening low-friction coating (10) which may be made of plastics or rubber.
