Data transmission method for GSM mobile communications network

The method involves at least one first frequency channel being provided for data transmission and for the transmission of signalling information between a first base station and mobile stations (MS). The first base station also provides a second wide band frequency channel with a TD/CD-MA transmission, in which a connection (Vl) is set up either in the first or the second frequency channel. A handing over of the connection to the other frequency channel results through the base station controller, without selecting a second base station. The frequency ranges of the first and second frequency channel overlap, and the bandwidth of the second frequency channel corresponds to at least the eightfold bandwidth of the first frequency channel.
